About liquidx.net

liquidx.net has been around since 1999, initially serving as my personal web site where I started journal inputs before the "blog" wave hit us in 2001. I have static copies of my old content, but I haven't had the bravery to put them up!

liquidx.net centers around anything that interests me or something that I'd like to share with my friends and/or strangers. Topics include Mac hardware and software, Linux software, Python code, Mobile phone hacking (series 60), life in Cambridge, my imaginary life in Japan, observations in England, random photos, rants and etc. All in all, just everything and anything that comes to my mind which I can remember when I sit down in front of my computer.

Life Story

2006
  • Did some short consulting work to get add features into EyeTunes.framework
2005
  • December involved a break in Salzburg and Vienna, Christmas in Suffolk, and NYE in London.
  • Over 100K downloads for the Album Art Widget
  • Released Album Art Widget in May and EyeTunes framework as OSS in May and July respectively.
  • Got a contract job to port RealVNC Client to Mac OS X
2004
  • Visited New York, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver.
  • Took up a summer internship at Fraser Research
2003
  • Learned snowboarding at Falls Creek, Victoria, Australia.
2002
  • Joined the Laboratory of Communications Engineering at the University of Cambridge, UK. Later renamed to the Digital Technology Group, Computer Laboratory.
2001
  • Graduated as Bachelor of Computer Engineering with First Honours.
2000
  • Started working part time at the Department of Computer Science as System Support maintaining 500+ workstations and servers, 300+ students and staff.
1999
  • Moved from Hurstville, Sydney to Killara, Sydney.
  • Got my first taste of Student Societies in Universities, left a sour taste in my mouth. Yuk!
  • Did some freelancing web jobs during the dot-com boom. One of my designs airfares.com.au is still up and nearly unchanged!
1998
  • Started a Computer Engineering Degree at University of New South Wales.
  • First learned how to program, Haskell was my first language! (Not counting Javascript)
1997
  • Completed Higher School Certificate (A-Levels Equiv)
1993
  • Returned to Australia, this time Sydney, Australia.
  • Joined Sydney Grammar School
  • Lived in Hurstville, Sydney.
1991
  • Graduated from Primary School, Joined Island School.
1988
  • Returned to Hong Kong, started Bradbury Junior School
1985
  • Immigrated to Melbourne, Australia
1980
  • Born in Scotland, UK.
